Starview Labs is something I have wanted to build for many years. Ham radio and other communications pursuits suffer from inertia, conservativism in architecture, and a clear lack of cross-disciplinary vision. I spent 45 years in industry being the “glue” that spans hardware, software, industrial design, user interface, and the other myriad disciplines that go into high technology products in the computer, networking, and automotive worlds. I bring this “big picture” sense to my designs here for Starview Labs.
I’m starting this by myself, as a skilled engineer in software, user interface, and electronics/RF design. I hope it will outgrow my abilities and available energy to something bigger, but I’ll be happy if I can just do the following for some number of people:
Advance the state of the art, delighting users with powerful and beautiful devices and experiences that do things they might not have realized they wanted or needed.
We build professionally engineered devices with flexibility and adaptability and – most importantly – usability at top of mind.
Everything I build, with as few exceptions as legally possible, is MIT Licensed and is therefore flexibly open source. If you want to build a derivative of my work, let’s please talk – I want to know how I can help or if I can learn something from your needs. But you don’t have to involve me.
